We’re looking for a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to support our growing team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to shape the digital presence of a national trade association that advocates for the travel advisor community.

This position will report jointly to the Directors of Marketing and Communications.

About ASTA:

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is the leading global advocate for travel advisors, the travel industry and the traveling public. Its members represent 80 percent of all travel sold in the United States through the travel agency distribution channel. Together with hundreds of internationally based members, ASTA’s history of industry advocacy traces back to its founding in 1931 when it launched with the mission to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Content & Social Media Management

  • Help create scroll-stopping content: graphics, short videos, and written posts
  • Grow ASTA’s presence across key social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Develop engaging, on-brand content including copywriting, graphics, and short-form video to support marketing or public relations campaigns and increase audience engagement.
  • Assist in the execution of email marketing campaigns, digital promotions, and web content updates in coordination with the broader marketing and communications team.
  • Collaborate on public relations efforts, including media outreach, content development, and internal/external communication initiatives.
  • Track performance metrics across platforms and provide regular reports to inform data-driven strategy adjustments.

Content Development & Website Support

  • Assist in writing and publishing original content for ASTA.org, including blog posts, member features, and industry updates.
  • Support content coordination with freelance writers and internal stakeholders to ensure brand consistency and editorial quality.
  • Contribute to website content maintenance, including posting, formatting, and optimizing written and visual assets.
  • Monitor website performance using tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console to support SEO and user engagement goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with social media for a brand or organization preferred —volunteer or student work included (portfolio or sample work preferred).
  • Proficient writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone for multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Basic design skills using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field is a plus.
  • Passion for the travel industry and a commitment to supporting the travel advisor community.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $45,000–$55,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
