General Summary
The key function of the Associate, Public Relations is to provide vital media relations support for key PTG Consulting tourism clients. This position will play a critical role in the execution of clients’ public relations strategies through activities including press releases, proactive pitching, reactive media support, press trips, events support, and reporting, in addition to accepting other responsibilities, as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
This position reports directly to the Director, Public Relations, based in New York City. The Associate, Public Relations will be required to liaise with team members and clients across various disciplines and locations via phone calls, action plan development, and follow-through initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute innovative public relations strategies on behalf of PTG Consulting’s tourism clients that support achievement of Key Performance Indicators
  • Research and draft press releases, press kits, pitches, media invitations, and other written materials
  • Build and maintain media databases
  • Cultivate media relationships reaching key target audiences
  • Fulfill media inquiries for information, photo requests, fact checking, etc.
  • Coordinate and support hosting of press trips and media tours, including itinerary development
  • Coordinate and support media and consumer-facing event logistics, including invitation management, venue research, vendor coordination, and on-site support to ensure smooth execution of events
  • Contribute to client reports on a regular basis, including maintenance of clipping reports
  • Engage in client-specific daily news monitoring
  • Actively share industry insights and trends with the greater PTG Consulting tourism team
  • Support social media and influencer marketing projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years PR agency experience working in a tourism, travel, or lifestyle-related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, marketing, journalism, or tourism
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
  • Existing media contacts in the areas of travel, lifestyle, and/or culinary
  • Practical experience using media databases such as Muck Rack
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly organized self-starter, motivated and results oriented
  • Responsiveness and accountability
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally, as needed
  • Spanish language skills desirable, but not required

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment is located in Midtown Manhattan and work takes place in the office, with a minimum of 40% of work hours to be completed in the office. Office space is beautifully as well as functionally decorated including all required technology tools. Employee is seated most of the time.
