The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is an essential member of the Marketing and Communications team that will support efforts in increasing visibility and engagement with the Museum’s exhibitions, permanent collections, educational programs, and public events. This role will assist with marketing campaigns, social media management, email marketing, event promotion, and design collaboration to ensure brand consistency. This is a part-time, regular position that reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns for exhibitions, programs, and events. Manage inbound requests related to the website, social media advertising, and email marketing, as well as help organize schedules for printed and digital campaigns.
- Social Media Management: Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, BlueSky, TikTok, Bloomberg Connects, and YouTube.
- Email Marketing: Assist in developing and managing email marketing campaigns. Create engaging newsletters and promotional emails to inform audiences. Ensure segment lists are kept up-to-date.
- Event Support: Assist with the promotion Museum events, including exhibition openings, educational programs, and community outreach activities. Coordinate marketing efforts to boost attendance.
- Communication Design: Collaborate with Design on organizational adherence to Museum branding and templates, including conducting real-time reviews of materials including flyers, postcards, and more.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
A successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, with 1-2 years of experience (preferably in an arts and culture organization or nonprofit setting).
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for engagement.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and comfortable working in a Mac or PC environment.
- Experience with video editing and creating multimedia content for social media.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work across departments.
- A passion for the arts, history, and New York City culture.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS
This position requires full-time, in-person attendance at the Museum. Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be necessary to support special events and operational needs. The role involves being stationary for 50% of the time, navigating office and Museum environments, and traveling between the Museum and offsite storage locations. Work conditions may occasionally include environments with 50% humidity and temperatures of 50°F. Physical requirements include operating power tools and machinery, ascending/descending ladders and stairs, working at heights or in confined spaces, and handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as data analysis and operating machinery. Additionally, after-hours emergency response coverage may be required.
