POSITION SUMMARY
The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist in health and safety-related tasks on the Programs Team. This role will support the Director of Health and Safety and Senior Health and Safety Coordinator, the development of health and safety tools and policies, and the screening of all program participants. In addition, this position will serve in a support contact role for families, chapters, and other constituents like the Youth Ambassadors during in-person programming. The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist with On-Call duties during program operation, taking calls from staff, families, and constituents during in-person exchanges and programs. This position is supervised by the Director of Health and Safety within the Programs department and supported by the Senior Health and Safety Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Health Screening
Prior to the departure, all volunteers, participants and program staff will undergo a thorough health screening process where they will submit physical health and mental health forms, if applicable. The Health and Safety Team receives, reviews and inputs information on the forms into our database paying close attention that the applicant meets the AMIGOS health criteria and flagging any concerns for the Director of Health and Safety. The Senior Health and Safety Coordinator will be the lead screener for all year-round programs.
Health and Safety Training
Prior to program departure, volunteers and project staff will undergo training with many health, safety and risk topics presented. Additionally, volunteers’ families will attend health and safety webinars. The Health and Safety Team is responsible for the creation, design and execution of health and safety training topics and webinars.
Health and Safety Onboarding
Support the Health and Safety team with onboarding for in-person projects, including the surveillance of health, safety and risk issues in program areas and other health and safety policies and procedures.
