POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Brand and Content Strategy is a key leadership position within Walks and Devour, responsible for overseeing the organization’s brand, content, and social media while collaborating closely with other marketing and GX functions to drive business impact. Reporting to the VP of
Marketing & GX, this role serves as a bridge between brand vision and creative execution, overseeing the company’s brand efforts, ensuring a cohesive and compelling presence across all touchpoints, with a particular emphasis on video, visual storytelling, and innovative content.
This role requires a visionary leader who is both highly creative and operationally effective, capable of mentoring senior team members, fostering collaboration, and driving measurable results. The Director will work closely with the content, brand, and video teams to bring the Walks/Devour story to life, while also partnering closely to inform performance marketing efforts managed by the CEX team and an external agency. Success requires a balance of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and creative leadership to deliver breakthrough work that elevates the Walks/Devour brands and meets business goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the VP of Marketing and extended leadership team to set strategic brand and content priorities, ensuring alignment with overall business and revenue goals.
- Drive cross-channel (offline/online) initiatives to grow brand awareness and consideration for Walks and Devour, prioritizing strategies that boost direct sales profitably.
- Act as a trusted strategic leader for marketing and GX teams, deeply understanding the objectives, challenges, and long-term vision within the Hornblower Group.
- Translate business goals into culturally relevant creative briefs and content strategies that inspire innovation and drive measurable results.
- Champion a brand-first approach, ensuring all creative efforts align with the broader brand narrative and customer expectations.
People Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the content marketing and social media teams, including three direct reports. Oversee senior content leaders, social media specialists, and external freelancers or agency partners. Foster a high-performing, collaborative environment that encourages innovation and accountability
Brand Strategy & Execution
- Develop and maintain a unified brand vision for Walks and Devour, leveraging their unique strengths to maximize customer lifetime value and cross-selling opportunities.
- Spearhead Walks/Devour’s brand presence across all channels with compelling visual and narrative storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Drive video-first and visually centric marketing initiatives, ensuring consistent quality and creativity across platforms.
- Maintain brand consistency and alignment with company values and customer expectations across every touchpoint
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the performance marketing team (CEX and agency partners) to align creative and content strategies with paid campaigns, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with lifecycle, social media, and affiliate marketing teams to integrate omnichannel strategies that drive engagement, bookings, and retention across the customer journey.
- Act as a key stakeholder in strategic projects, such as product launches or major campaigns, to ensure cohesive execution across teams
Creative Champion & Content Oversight
- Advocate for bold, culturally driven creativity to solve business challenges and drive growth.
- Optimize (blog/product/video) content production processes to scale efficiently while preserving the authenticity of the brand propositions.
- Provide mentorship and creative direction to the senior content team, empowering them to innovate while ensuring alignment with the overall marketing vision.
- Oversee content production workflows to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery that aligns with SEO, brand, and performance objectives.
- Experiment with new formats, such as reels, shorts, or interactive storytelling, to keep Walks/Devour at the forefront of content trends.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Leverage analytics to measure the success of brand and content initiatives, using
- insights to refine strategies and maximize ROI.
- Partner with analytics teams to establish and track KPIs, ensuring alignment with company-wide metrics.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on brand development, content, and video-first strategies as both a strategist and practitioner.
- Proven experience managing multiple brands within a portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment and growth.
- Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and deliver measurable results.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with experience managing a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong creative and strategic thinking skills, with a proven track record of executing cross-channel campaigns.
- Curiosity and willingness to explore emerging tools like GenAI for content production and marketing optimization
Desirable:
- Experience in the travel, lifestyle, or hospitality industries.
- Familiarity with performance marketing and working with external agencies.
- Proficiency in CMS systems, such as Contentful and WordPress.
- Experience or curiosity with agile marketing methodologies, including iterative testing and rapid adaptation.
Working Conditions & Shift Pattern
This is a full-time leadership role with standard business hours. Flexibility may be required for campaign launches or cross-departmental collaboration.
